Tobago Cold Storage and Warehouse Facility Limited

TCOSWAF was established on July 15th 2004, following acquisition of the Tobago Warehouse Complex from the National Insurance Property Development Company Limited (NIPDEC) in 2003. This purchase was critical given the importance of the cold storage to the general social and economic development of Tobago, and the agricultural and fishing sectors in particular. TCOSWAF is a fully functional state corporation established to operate the facility.

Today, with 77,000 cubic feet of cold storage space and 70,000 square feet of dry storage space, TCOSWAF is able to provide cold storage to a number of customers including fish processors, farmers, supermarkets, restaurants and other business entities. Operating at 100% tenancy, the Dry Storage segment provides commercial space to tenants who are involved in storing, wholesaling and retailing of goods and services.

The company’s operations focus on the promotion of local agriculture, fishing and business, and the facilitation of an enabling environment supportive of value-driven customer service, high quality goods and services, sustainable enterprise development, strategic collaborations and employee well-being in a safe, healthy and productive work environment.

The mandate of TCOSWAF is aligned to the THA’s Comprehensive Economic Development Plan, 2013-2017 (CEDP 2.0) vision for the agricultural sector: “A revived agriculture, fisheries and food industry that contributes to Tobago’s food security, providing a significant share of domestic requirements and strongly linked to the hotel industry, through the fresh supplies that it contributes, and together with niche agriculture aimed particularly at the domestic market, creates opportunities for production of safe and healthy foods, and generates attractive income for an emerging class of scientifically and technologically adaptable young farmers.”
